Chris Hedges: The Most Dangerous Woman in America - Truthdig
One major difference I see between capitalism and socialism is responsibility. Under capitalism, all responsibility (conceptually) is put on the individual to somehow overcome systemic injustices to achieve what is supposedly available to every single person who "works hard enough" -- economic freedom and success. Wealth. What we end up with is a wealthy few, and suffering mass. How can anyone still claim that this system works?
Under socialism as Sawant presents it, we are all responsible to each other. It's through collective action that we can ensure no one lives in poverty. Rather than stepping on others on our individual climb to the top, we stand up with others. By creating economic and social justice for everyone, we all win.
